Hoƫrskool Nelspruit recently hosted a special netball clinic in conjunction with the Dumisani Chauke Netball Foundation on its courts on Saturday August 25.
Twelve schools from the Lowveld sent netball teams and organisers to learn from some of South Africaās best: TUT and former Protea players.
Coaches on the day included Dumisani Chauke who is the Protea u/19 coach and Protea u/21 assistant coach and was a Protea player herself.
Also on the list of coaches is new addition to HoĆ«rskool Nelspruitās coaching team and previous u/19 and u/23 Protea player Lentsa Motau.
Lentsa also qualified for this yearās Protea squad. Tshwane University of Technologyās netball players also assisted on the day.
The 120 players and 14 coaches hailed from various schools in the region: Fundinjobo, Guduza, Khutsalani, Valencia Combined, Njeyeza, Idlangamabala, Suikerland, Khula, Mashishing, Mjokwane, Ngodini and Sbula.
The day kicked off with the handover of goodie bags for each player and school, after which the skills development commenced.
They day was ended off with a friendly tournament between the schools in attendance. They also enjoyed lunch sponsored by McDonaldās and water sponsored by Mr. Neels de Villiers. HoĆ«rskool Nelspruit is proud to have also been on board as sponsor and look forward to be hosting fellow schools in the region on its courts in future.
With this initiative Hoƫrskool Nelspruit aims to promote netball among local schools, contribute to the development of players, coaches and organisers in Mpumalanga and establish a platform for local schools to network and learn from one another.
