Hokkie – Twee hokkiespelers van Hoërskool De Aar het ‘n onvergeetlike ervaring gehad. Welmy Erasmus, 16 jaar en Vuyisa Mata 17 jaar het saam met 104 Suid-Afrikaanse kinders in Nederland gaan hokkie speel. Dit het plaasgevind vanaf 2-10 Oktober.
Ouderdomme seuns en meisies 0.14, 0.17 en 0.19 het deelgeneem. Hulle het in Amsterdam begin en volle afrigting ontvang. Van die afrigters was die bekende Maarten Bosman, ook nommer 2 in Nederland. Na afloop van afrigting wat tussen drie en vier ure per dag was, het hul wedstryde teen onder andere Rood-wit en Isseloever hokkie klubs gespeel.
Welmy Erasmus het ook in Den Hague haar staal gewys en vir haar span ’n doel geskiet.
Daar is baie hard gewerk maar ook tyd gemaak vir ontspanning. Kanaalritte, fietstoere en die Efteling Theme Park was besoek wat groot pret veroorsaak het.
Hulle het ook tyd gekry om na professionele hokkiespanne te kyk terwyl hul meeding.
Buiten dat hulle met soveel nuwe tegnieke na SA toe teruggekeer het, is daar ook kosbare vriendskappe gesmee en het hulle Nederland in volle glorie beleef!

Hockey
Two hockey players from De Aar High School had an unforgettable experience. Welmy Erasmus, 16 years and Vuyisa Mata 17 years went on to play hockey in the Netherlands with 104 South African children. It took place from 2 to 10 October.
Ages boys and girls 0.14, 0.17 and 0.19 participated. They started in Amsterdam and received full coaching. Among the coaches was the famous Maarten Bosman, also number 2 in the Netherlands. After coaching, which was between three and four hours a day, they played matches against Rood-wit and Isseloever hockey clubs, among others.
Welmy Erasmus also showed her mettle in Den Hague and shot a goal for her team.
A lot of hard work was done but also time made for relaxation. Canal rides, bike tours and the Efteling Theme Park were visited which caused great fun.
They also found time to watch professional hockey teams as they competed. Apart from returning to SA with so many new techniques, precious friendships were also forged, and they experienced the Netherlands in its full glory!
