With the announcement on Saturday, 5 June, of the Springbok Rugby squad for the upcoming series against Georgia and the British and Irish Lions there was a lot of reason for excitement amongst Paul Roos supporters.
Paul Roux Gymnasium is proud of its four former learners who were selected: Damian Willemse (Matric 2016), Steven Kitshoff (Matric 2010), Willie le Roux (Matric 2007) and Herschel Jantjies (Matric 2014).
With their selection, Paul Roos Gymnasium becomes the most represented school in the squad ahead of Grey College with three players.
This continues Paul Roos’s long history of rugby excellence as the school with the largest number of Springboks in the country (54). Whilst the school prides itself on its rugby results, Paul Roos is equally proud of the foundation it is able to lay for aspiring young rugby players to represent the green and gold and/or pursue a career in rugby after school.
Paul Roos would like to wish these four old boys the best of luck with the upcoming series and we know they will continue to make the school proud.
