schoolsthatrockDance World Cup. Vyf dansers van Hoërskool Strand het aan die ‘Dance World Cup’ in Centurion deelgeneem. Christo Thiart, Linke Thiart, Karli van der Merwe, Mieke Carr en Eldine Weir het baie goed presteer en is almal genooi na die Wêreldkampioenskappe in Portugal.
Die Wêreldkampioenskappe vind plaas in Portugal vanaf 30 Junie tot 8 Julie 2023. Al vyf dansers van Hoërskool Strand het goue toekennings ontvang. Die dans-items waaraan hulle deelgeneem het is Lyrical (groep), Hip-Hop (groep), Show Dance (groep), Street Dance (groep). Hulle het ook silwer en brons medaljes ontvang vir verskeie groepkategoroieë.
Die vyf leerders het ook deelgeneem aan die nasionale ‘World Lyrical Dance Federation’ kompetisie. Al vyf het weer so goed gevaar dat hulle na die wêreldkampioenskap in Dublin, Ierland genooi is.
Die skool is veral beïndruk met Christo Thiart wat ‘n eerste plek trofee vir sy Lyrical-solo gewen het. Mieke Carr het ook drie eersteplek-trofeë vir haar Akrobatiese, Jazz en Lyrical solos verower. Sy het ook ‘n spesiale toekenning vir ‘Foutlose Opvoering’ ontvang!
Dance World Cup
Five dancers from Strand High School took part in the ‘Dance World Cup’ in Centurion. Christo Thiart, Linke Thiart, Karli van der Merwe, Mieke Carr and Eldine Weir performed very well and were all invited to the World Championships in Portugal.
The World Championships will take place in Portugal from 30 June to 8 July 2023. All five dancers from Strand High School also received gold awards. The dance items they participated in were Lyrical (group), Hip-Hop (group), Show Dance (group), Street Dance (group). They also received silver and bronze medals for various group categories.
The five learners also participated in the national ‘World Lyrical Dance Federation’ competition. All five did so well again that they were invited to the world championships in Dublin, Ireland.
The school is particularly impressed with Christo Thiart winning a first-place trophy for his Lyrical solo. Mieke Carr also won three first-place trophies for her Acrobatic, Jazz and Lyrical solos. She also received a special award for ‘Flawless Performance’!
