Top 10 Gala. Michaelhouse proudly hosted the prestigious Top 10 Gala at the new world-class Aquapark facility of St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg.
Fresh from a demanding weekend of water polo tournaments, the Michaelhouse swimming team returned to the pool with grit and determination. Despite the fatigue, the boys represented the school with excellence and unwavering pride.
After the first eighteen events, Michaelhouse held an impressive third place overall. Unfortunately, two disqualifications later in the meet allowed Maritzburg College and Northwood School to edge ahead, leaving Michaelhouse in fifth position. With only seven points separating third, fourth, and fifth place, the contest for a podium finish was fiercely competitive.
The highlight of the evening came in the 5 x 50m freestyle ladder relay. In front of a roaring crowd, the swimmers delivered a spirited performance, defeating Westville Boys’ High School and Durban High School in what was undoubtedly the race of the night. (Swimmers: Campbell Turner, Bandile Mahaye, Mitch Rogers, Jed Rielly, Kyle Heyns)
