In anticipation for the Comrades Marathon, two of our staff members and Comrades Marathon runners Mr Chad Barron and Mr Dean Riley took the time to chat to the Prep School about this amazing event!
In Mr Riley’s assembly with the Junior Primary, the boys got to ask questions and learn all about what the day entails, the distance and how long it takes to complete. Mr Riley even kitted out one of the boys, from head to toe, to demonstrate what the runners wear on the day.
In the Senior Primary assembly both Mr Barron and Mr Riley were interviewed by 1st team Rugby player from the Senior School, Armin Jooste. During their interview the boys learnt about the hard work and determination that goes into being a sportsman as well as the training and dietary habits that go into preparing for such an event. They also heard stories about why Mr Barron and Mr Riley first started running the Comrades Marathon and some of the special memories they have of their previous runs.
