St Andrew’s School for Girls recently held their Summer Sports Awards online due to COVID-19 restrictions. The school felt it was important to acknowledge and celebrate the girls’ achievements and hard work throughout the successful summer sports season.
Grade 8, 9 and 10 learners were eligible for certificates of achievement and junior colours, while grade 11 and 12 learners were eligible for merit, half colours and full colours’ awards. The seniors are also eligible for the service-based award of a pro-merito, for service in the sport of five years or more.
An honours award is given to girls who have been awarded South African colours and have competed at a national level. This is done at both a junior and senior level.
St Andrew’s is particularly proud of Dimita Govender, Jia Liu and Sabeeha Suleman who received their First Aid honours and Shannon Berry who received her First Aid junior honours. The current COVID-19 has brought to light the importance of frontline health workers and the immense gratitude that we have for those who serve our country so selflessly. At St Andrew’s, the First Aiders serve the school community with dignity and grace and the school hopes to see them continue to share their valuable knowledge and skills when they leave school.
