St Andrew’s School for Girls: Sharessa Naidoo, Emma Shannon, Kashaliyah Naidoo, Hannah-Grace McBride, Lauren Matheson, Ashleigh Bagnall and Rachel Shannon from St Andrew’s School for Girls in Bedfordview, competed in the South African Country Districts Squash Team in the South African Schools Annual Squash Interprovincial Tournament (IPT) at the Parkview Squash Centre and St John’s College courts. Sharessa’s team performed exceptionally well finishing in 6th place amongst 12 teams. Kashaliyah and Emma were in the U13 IPT team and finished in 3rd place with a bronze medal. Hannah-Grace was ranked number one in the U16 section for Easterns. At the end of the tournament the South African selectors picked the U16 girls top 8 in South African and Hannah was selected as the only Eastern and Central Gauteng player to make it and will be touring Malaysia based on her performance and results at the 3 qualifying tournaments. Lauren also had a good tournament ranked as number two in the U16 section. Lauren, Ashleigh and Hannah-Grace were strong contenders in the Easterns team that finished 6 out of 10. Rachel received a gold medal along with her teammates for winning the U14 A girls section, beating the Border Girls U14 Team into second place. Rachel also made the SA Top 7 players list for her age group and in recognition of this she received an South Africa Schools Gold medal. Well done to all our girls!
