Senior Prize Giving – Glenwood High School

Senior Prize Giving. The Glenwood High School in Durban’s Annual Senior Speech, Prize Giving and Valedictory Ceremony took place on Monday 18 October. It was held in the Mvinjelwa Johannes Mhlongo Hall at Glenwood High School.

Honours awards for Academics, Sport and Culture were presented to the top students.

Academic adwards

The Dux of School (J H Snow Memorial Award), (Thusa Business Support Award) went to Mikhail Bassa. Dux Poxime Accessit went to Anshul Harilall. 3rd In Grade 12 was Leo Moran.

Sport awards

Athletics – Best performance (mountbattan trophy) was Sifiso Mvimbe. Commitment to athletics went to Chuene Mashalane (Sean Ellis Memorial Trophy).

Basketball – Most promising player (KZN Marlins Contract) went to Trey Rathman.

Cricket – Most improved player prize was given to Banele Cele. The Player of the year went to Chad Laycock.

Debating awards

Best Senior Debator (MJP Maher Trophy) was given to Wesley van der Merwe. Most Improved Senior Speaker was Teagan Reddy and Mikhail Bassa

Dramatic Arts awards

Best performer (The Dionysus Trophy) was given to Sfundo Shangase

Golf

Best Stroke Play was Russel Heine. He was not only best in Golf but also in Hockey.

Hockey

Player of the Year was not onl Russel Heine. The Most Improved Player was James Mullany. Most Dedicated Player (Fileczki Trophy) was given to Rasen Naidoo

Rugby

Player of the Year in the 1st XV was Phatutshedzo Ganyane. The Most Improved Player in the 1st XV was Cody Hoole. Most Promising Player in the 1st XV was Riego Heath.

Soccer

The Player of the Year was Rijul Pillay

Swimming

Commitment to Swimming was given to Nathen Gibson (Sean Ellis Memorial Trophy).

Target Shooting

Top u/21 Pistol was given to Matthew Blignaut. The Top u/21 rifle award was given to Josh Strydom

Water Polo

Senior player of the year was Cuan de Kock (William de Vos Trophy)

South African Representatives

S.A. Ties

South Africa Deep Sea Angling award went to Jan Harm du Plessis

SASSU SA nationals went to Matthew Blignaut

South African Schools u/18 rugby went to Phatutshedzo Ganyane. It is indeed a wonderful award.
