Schools That Rock asked a few questions to Tasha Cronje, Headgirl of Eunice in Bloemfontein.
Question: What do you look forward to the most when the 2021 school year starts? I am looking forward to welcoming our grade eights and to make them feel part of the Eunice family. The energy and optimism that the grade eights bring to the school every year is contagious! We cannot wait to teach and show them what Eunice is all about. Secondly, I cannot wait to make this a special and memorable year for my fellow Matrics. They are a phenomenal group of young women. There will be nothing more rewarding , than to make this year special for each and every one of them.
Question: Are there any changes or adjustments you would like to see happen at Eunice? I know that Eunice ladies are truly resilient and can handle any challenge or adversity that may come their way. I would love to see our young ladies step it up even further this year and support each other in the uncertain and challenging times ahead of us. I would love to see the girls embrace change and adapt to it on a daily basis. These are qualities and skills that will help
them and that they will use throughout their lives.
Question: If you had to make a statement to convince someone that your school is the right choice, what would it that statement be? Eunice prepares you for the world. You learn as much about life in the hallways as you do from academics in class. It is a sisterhood where you learn to work hard, feel a sense belonging,
learn gratitude and build on sound foundations of diversity and inclusion. There is really no other school so dear!
Question: Who would you consider to be a role model at your school? Our educators are our everyday inspiration. They are passionate, driven and committed to
going the extra mile. They are our mentors and number 1 supporters. Our headmistress Mrs De Wet embodies strength, dignity and femininity. We as a school look up to her every day. Our talented and courageous ladies are role models in so many ways. They are change makers, leaders and my sisters in green. Their acceptance, advice and friendship is worth more than gold.
Question: Which sport activity offered at your school is your favourite? My favourite activity at Eunice is definitely athletics. Eunice’s athletics team is superb. They raise the bar at every meeting. They are my closest ‘family members’ at school and still inspire me everyday!
Question: What is your favourite meal? Ice cream!
Question: Which career choices are you considering after school? I would like to be a psychologist or psychiatrist one day. I am really passionate about these
careers.
Question: Which university do you want to attend next year? I would love to study Medicine or Psychology at Stellenbosch University or the Australian National University in Canberra.
Question: Do you have a message for your fellow pupils for 2021? I recently read a book by Oprah Winfrey: “What I know for sure”. What an inspirational read! I
would like to quote a piece from this heartwarming book to my fellow pupils: ‘Become the change you wish to see – those are the words I live by. Instead of belittling, uplift. Instead of demolishing, rebuild. Instead of misleading, light the way so that all of us can stand on higher ground.’
Then, above all, live with gratitude. You will be amazed by the result if you focus every day on what you do have and not what you don’t.
