Schools That Rock asked a few questions to Siba Tokwe, Head Girl of Wynberg Girls’ School in Cape Town.
Question: What do you look forward to most when the 2021 school year starts? I am looking forward to meeting our new grade 8 learners and showing them how they have made the perfect choice in coming to WGHS. I am also looking forward to leading my school with other great leaders who also have the same vision as me.
Question: Are there any changes or adjustments you would like to see happen at Wynberg Girls’ High School? I would love to see our 6 school values seen through our actions as learners.
Question: If you had to make a statement to convince someone that your school is the right choice, what would that statement be? “If you are looking for a school that will not only allow for you to grow academically but, will instill independence and a sense of community within you, then Wynberg Girls’ High School is the place for you.”
Question: Who would you consider to be your role model at your school? I would consider my Grade 10 English teacher my role model, she is a very positive person that strives for improvement not only in our academic lives but also personal lives. She also inspired me greatly to want to become the Head of school.
Questio: Which sport activity offered at your school is your favourite? Touch Rugby. Its very different to any other sport at our school and I love that about it.
Question: What is your favourite meal? My favourite meal is homemade macaroni and cheese.
Question: Which career choices are you considering after school? I would love to become an endocrinologist and work greatly with diabetes, a disease that is truly affecting many South Africans.
Question: Which university do you want to attend next year? I would be honoured to study at the University of Cape Town.
Question: Do you have a message for your fellow pupils for 2021? My message is: “I, as your leader, am very proud of each and single one of you. We have gone through so much as a country and as a school, and so this year I say, let us not put ourselves down but rather, let us rise up and be proud of how far we as WGHS students have come.”
