Schools That Rock chat to Megan Coetzee

Schools That Rock asked a few questions to Megan Coetzee, Deputy Head Girl of Pretoria High School for Girls.

Question: What do you look forward to most when the 2021 school year starts? I’m looking forward to getting started, returning to some form of “normality” and reconnecting with all my friends.

Question: Are there any changes or adjustments you would like to see happen at your school? Yes there are. I believe there is always room for improvement and the Prefect Body of 2021 have some exciting plans for the school this year.

Question: If you had to make a statement to convince someone that your school is the right choice, what would that statement be? Pretoria Girls caters for every individual whether your strengths lie in culture, sports or academics. Although the size of the school may be intimidating to some, it allows every girl to find their place as long as you participate in any of the many offerings.

Question: Who would you consider to be your role model at your school? When I was in Grade 8, the Head Girl of PHSG was Flourish Oluwamakinde. I remember how passionate she was about the school and each individual within the Girls’ High family. She sparked a little flame in my Grade 8 heart and if I can be as passionate and caring as she was, I will be proud of who I’ve become.

Question: Which sport activity offered at your school is your favourite? Hockey!

Question: What is your favourite meal? 2 Minutes Noodles with Tuna Mayo on top makes a great quick meal.

Question: Which career choices are you considering after school? Forensic Auditing or Computer Sciences.

Question: Which university do you want to attend next year? I would love to attend the University of Toronto or York University in Canada.

Question: Do you have a message for your fellow pupils for 2021? As a friend of mine in Girls High said, “In our ‘new norm’ it isn’t about finding the motivation but rather having the discipline to dig deep and get on with it”. We need to support each other and ride out the storm together.
