SA Junior Surfing Champs. Grade 11 Camps Bay High School learner, Noah Kahn, surfs for the Cape Winelands Surfriders Association. Noah qualified to participate in the 2021 Sea Harvest SA Junior Surfing Champs which were held at Jeffreys Bay over the holidays. This was the first time that Noah qualified. He surfed incredibly well in the first few heats, making it all the way through to quarter-finals.
The Sea Harvest SA Junior Surfing Championships is the country’s most prestigious annual surfing event. The event is for competitors aged 18 and under. It showcases the top young surfers from all over the country. They have to qualify via tough selection trials run by their respective District organisations.
Said Busi Ngcwama, Head of Sport, “We are incredibly proud of Noah who made it through to the quarter-finals against the toughest competition in South Africa. We are sure that Noah’s great-grandfather, John Whitmore who pioneered surfing in South Africa in the 1950s, would be equally proud of him.”
