Jenna Pearse and Lize-Mari de Beer, from St Andrew’s School for Girls, have both been selected to Swimming South Africa’s (SSA) National Squad in the Youth Division
Congratulations is extended to Jenna Pearse and Lize-Mari de Beer, grade 11 pupils from St Andrew’s School for Girls, Pietermaritzburg, who have both been selected to Swimming South Africa’s (SSA) National Squad in the Youth Division. In accordance with the principles of Long Term Participant Development (LTPD), Swimming South Africa has introduced a squad system to provide additional support and exposure to promising swimmers. Its objective is to increase the supply of swimming talent available for selection to the 2018 Commonwealth and 2020 Olympic Games. As part of this development programme swimmers are also offered the opportunity to participate in self-funded international swimming tours. It is with much delight that Lize-Mari de Beer will be joining the South African contingent going to Hong Kong to participate in the World Cup series being held in October. This opportunity will certainly provide her with valuable exposure at an international level.
On behalf of the school we would like to wish both Jenna and Lize-Mari all the best as they start with preparations for the Junior Commonwealth Trials at the end of the year leading up to Games in 2018.
