Outstanding Basketball – Kearsney College’s superior results

Outstanding Basketball. St Charles 1st Team vs Kearsney 1st Team.

The opening fixture of the season delivered fireworks as Kearsney stunned St Charles on their home court with a commanding 84–61 victory. Traditionally, St Charles has held the upper hand in this rivalry, especially at home, but Kearsney arrived determined to flip the script — and they did so in emphatic fashion.

First Quarter: Kearsney’s Lightning Start

Kearsney came out blazing, racing to a 15-point lead before St Charles could register their first basket. Playing with relentless energy, they overwhelmed the hosts early, closing the quarter ahead 23–12.

Second Quarter: St Charles Fights Back

St Charles began to settle into their rhythm, using their superior height to trouble Kearsney’s defense. With Kearsney’s big men in foul trouble, the home side clawed back, edging the quarter 16–15. The physicality and heat made for a grueling contest, but St Charles still trailed at halftime.

Third Quarter: Momentum Swings

The hosts mounted a spirited comeback, even tying the game with sharp outside shooting and well-executed plays. But fatigue crept in, and Kearsney rediscovered their scoring touch late in the quarter to restore control. By the end of the third, Kearsney had stretched their lead to 64–49.

Fourth Quarter: Kearsney Seals It

With St Charles’ key players fouling out, the comeback hopes evaporated. Kearsney kept their foot on the gas, closing out the game with authority to secure a statement 84–61 win.
