Netbal Skeidsregters – Merensky Landbou Akademie

Netbal Skeidsregters.

Sy dien nou trots as skeidsregter tydens wedstryde.

Koketso Kgabo

Merensky Agricultural Academy attended a special netball rules discussion, led by Koketso Kgabo, a qualified NSA A-level umpire. The session was aimed at coaches and first team netball girls who want to take their umpiring to a higher level.

It is clear that umpiring is a new area of growth for Merensky’s netball programme. This year they are looking forward to coaches who want to deepen their knowledge. Some of them will graduate at the Mopani trials with Ben Vorster on 23 April. Others will do their practical exams for Levels 1 and 2 on 14 May. This commitment shows that netball at Merensky is not only focused on the game, but also on developing officials in the sport.

The young players are also showing remarkable ambition. Dineo, one of our their first team players, started umpiring last year and now proudly serves as an umpire during matches.

Apart from Dineo, first team members Tshego, Zenya, Alissa, Lydia and Hillmari also attended the session – all determined to broaden their knowledge and possibly act as referees in the future.

Merensky’s netball umpiring future looks bright – with a passionate team behind them, and young players putting their hands up, this is netball with vision and determination.
