Matric mentors. Today, during first break, the matric mentors shined the shoes of their grade 8-mentees. This is so much more than just polish: it is a symbolic handover. The departing matrics say farewell to the mentees whom they introduced to the Paul Roos values, culture and way of doing things. The shoeshine is their way of handing over the baton to the grade 8’s who will now have to live out these traditions and share them with new learners.
