Mathematics Olympiad. St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg, is proud of five of their boys who did exceptionally well in the second round of the Old Mutual SA Mathematics Olympiad.
- Cameron Beesley and Sebastien le Roux, Grade 12, were placed in the top 100 seniors nationally.
- James Isaac, Kaden Govindasamy and Daniel Morkel, Grade 9, were placed in the top 100 juniors nationally. They excelled even further by qualifying to participate in the third and final round, which they will write next Thursday. They were five of only seven students in the midlands who qualified for this round.
The third round consists of a 4-hour problem-solving examination, which they must answer without a calculator. The examination will be written at St Charles College as they had the greatest number of students qualifying for the round.
“This is an extraordinary achievement. Well done to all five boys.” – Mrs Charlotte Pillay (Head of Mathematics)
