Baptised for upcoming confirmation. Thursday 18 May, three Grade 11 girls from St Mary’s DSG Kloof, KZN, Chelsea Moodley, Unathi Sithole, and Andiswa Mchunu, were baptised in preparation for their upcoming confirmation. The ceremony took place in their Chapel, witnessed by their families, friends, and fellow candidates.
Baptism marks the beginning of a lifelong journey with God and is a joyful occasion for everyone involved. It’s a time to celebrate God’s love and welcome the newly baptised into the church community, who pledge their support and prayers.
During the baptism service, three symbols are used:
- the sign of the cross, symbolising Christ’s sacrifice;
- water, representing cleansing and new life;
- light, signifying new life out of the darkness.
Jesus’ own baptism in the river Jordan by John, where God declared Him as His beloved son, reminds us of our own belovedness in God’s eyes.
Through our baptism, we are welcomed into the family of God. It is with great joy to welcome Andiswa, Chelsea and Unathi.
