Kovsie Smash. Teams for the 2026 Kovsie Smash.
The third annual Kovsie Smash, hosted by Hoërskool Fichardtpark in Bloemfontein, will, alongside the Cubs Week in Stellenbosch, mark the first official schools’ cricket week of 2026.
This year’s edition features 19 teams competing for the coveted title, previously held by Hoërskool Wesvalia of Klerksdorp. The tournament runs from tomorrow, Monday, 5 January, to Friday, 9 January, with a new champion set to be crowned.
Defending champions Hoërskool Wesvalia will not be participating this year. However, Hoërskool Kalahari from Kuruman is tipped as a strong contender and is expected to make a significant impact once again.
Groups:
- Group A: Jim Fouché, Transvalia, Oos-Moot, Merensky
- Group B: Fichardtpark, Lichtenburg, Sasolburg, Duineveld, Pietersburg
- Group C: Sentraal, Eldoraigne, Voortrekker, Driehoek, Hoër Volkskool Potchefstroom
- Group D: Goudveld, Trio, Overvaal, Kalahari

Derde Jaarlikse Kovsie Smash 2026
Die derde jaarlikse Kovsie Smash, aangebied deur Hoërskool Fichardtpark in Bloemfontein, sal saam met die Cubs Week in Stellenbosch die eerste amptelike skole-krieketweek van 2026 wees.
Hierdie jaar se toernooi sluit 19 spanne in wat meeding om die gesogte titel wat voorheen deur Hoërskool Wesvalia van Klerksdorp gewen is. Die toernooi vind plaas van Maandag, 5 Januarie tot Vrydag, 9 Januarie, waar ’n nuwe kampioen gekroon sal word.
Die verdedigende kampioen, Hoërskool Wesvalia, neem nie vanjaar deel nie. Hoërskool Kalahari van Kuruman word egter as ’n sterk aanspraakmaker beskou en behoort weer ’n groot rol te speel.
