IBSC Action Research Award. St Andrew’s College, Grahamstown, is thrilled to announce that Erna Goodier has been awarded the prestigious IBSC Action Research Award for 2024.
The action research leadership team praised the clarity and insight of Mrs Goodier’s project, “Cooking up Connections: Challenging Gender Role Stereotypes Through Kitchen Chemistry Club and Exploring its Impact on Belonging Among Grade 11 Boarders,” as well as her dedicated and thorough research on “Balanced Boys: Promoting Healthy Masculinity Beyond the Classroom.”
This award evaluates three main criteria: the quality of the project, the quality of the final report and participation in the program. Mrs Goodier excelled in all areas. Her rigorous approach to action research and her articulate presentation of the processes and findings in a well-written report. She highlighted the benefits of discussing asculinity outside the classroom. Her work paints a vivid picture of young men stepping out of their comfort zones. They are also having fun, building relationships, and engaging in meaningful conversations about masculinity.
Erna’s research not only positively impacted the students at St Andrew’s College but also contributed significantly to her professional development. This is a factor that deserves recognition and celebration.
Mrs Goodier was an active member of the IBSC Action Research community, consistently meeting all project benchmarks and deadlines.
Erna Goodier will be presented with her certificate at the IBSC Annual Conference on July 2, 2024, and will also briefly address the audience.
