“My name is Caine Letschert and I’m the head of Hilton College pastoral for 2023. Coming from a Jewish family, the value of belonging and the wellbeing of a community play a big part in our identity as people.
Our school and my upbringing have taught me to celebrate diversity and to cherish what makes us different. I believe that every boy – irrespective of age, creed, culture and ethnicity – who walks through the McKenzie Gates is a Hiltonian. And he will be a part of and contribute to something far greater than themselves.
I look forward to adopting a style of servant leadership this year. Not just leading, but creating the leaders of tomorrow. I’m passionate about every boy writing his own authentic Hilton College story that doesn’t end when he matriculates. Brene Brown says that owning our story can be hard, but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. “Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy – the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
