Head Girl 2025 – Roodepoort High School

Head Girl 2025. Like we did the past number of years, schoolsthatrock is talking to the Head Leaders of High Schools in South Africa. Today we talk to Alyssa Du Preez, Head Girl 2025 of Roodepoort High School, Gauteng.

“As Head Girl 2025 of Roodepoort High School, I am looking forward to lead the school and try to uphold the traditions of the school, while creating new one’s that will last for generations to come.

My personal goals for my leadership year is to learn more about myself and to grow and gain more confidence. I will also better my problem-solving skills. My goals for the school is to leave a lasting positive impact and to foster a sense of unity among all students.

There are a few qualities of our school that mostly stand out to me. Roodepoort High School is supportive of all students and we have a school spirit that can’t be beat.

Changes in our school that I would like to see happen? Yes, I would like to see peer tutoring be a larger aspect of the school.

I will find it easy persuading someone to make Roodepoort High School their choice of school. Most important are all the top achievements of our school. I will also highlight all the amazing subjects and fun extramurals we have. Not to forget about the good times they can have when they find the right people for them at Roodies.

My strongest leadership trait? I believe it is my ability to listen to others and also lead with authority without being rude.

I believe that we have already find a balance for collaboration amongst ourselves. We are all committed to fulfilling our roles and have already started that by identifying the time to be serious and the time for fun and also when to have fun in serious times. We are working well with each other, as well as supporting and being there for one another.

The two people I look up to most are my grandmothers. They have worked incredibly hard to provide for my parents as well as my aunts and uncles. As a result of that they are all incredibly successful and this taught me that, regardless of what you are going through, as long as you persevere you can make it. Essentially it taught me that if you can believe it you can achieve it.

My favourite dish? I actually have two – that would be sushi and a Gatsby.

I mostly day dream about food, sleep and more food!

My career dream is to pursue a career within the medical field. Hopefully, to specialise in Neurosurgery. My dream is also to study at the University of Cape Town, or at the University of Pretoria.”
