Glenwood High School in Durban welcomes their newly appointed Cricket Coach, Alex van der Merwe.
Alex is a young dynamic cricket coach with an absolute passion for cricket. He obtained his CSA Level 2 Certification in 2013 and has 7 years’ coaching experience ranging from young kids to club cricketers in Premier league and provincial level.
He has 3 years’ experience working in a professional cricket environment and being involved with high performance cricket teams. During 2013 to 2015 he was involved with the Northerns Semi Pro Provincial team, assisting the current Head Coach Mark Charlton with assistant coach duties. He says that he acquired valuable knowledge from high profile coaches and high performance cricket teams during that time, which he applied when he was appointed Head Coach of the Premier League Harlequins Cricket Club (1st and 2nd teams) in September 2015, where he successfully implemented coaching- and team structures.
Apart from coaching at Glenwood, he has been running the GAW Cricket Academy since 2013, which offers private coaching to individuals as well as groups.
