This past Saturday the Glenwood 1st XI Cricket team took on Durban High School in the final official fixture of the year.
Glenwood’s Main Oval-Dixons- was the setting for this Classic Clash between Durban’s two biggest rival schools. It was a scorching Saturday as Durban High School won the toss and elected to bat first. It was the perfect start to the game as Glenwood’s opening bowler Cameron Reid trapped DHS Batsman LBW with the very first ball of the match. That set the tone for the rest of the innings with Glenwood’s bowlers maintaining their discipline and DHS batsmen finally succumbing to the pressure to be eventually bowled out for 61.
Cameron Reid starred with the ball finishing with figures of 4-25 in 8.3 Overs.
It was the turn of Glenwood Batters to make their way to the crease. Openers Thamsanqa Kumalo and Keagan Cox showed ruthlessness with the bat as they latched onto anything loose from the DHS bowlers, frequently dismissing the ball to the boundary.
Glenwood chased down the target of 62 runs within 7 overs, without the loss of any wickets.
Thamsanqa Kumalo finished on 39* off 23 balls.
Summary of Scores
DHS 61 All Out
