Rhenish Girls’ High School’s 1st Hockey Team has once again proven why they’re one of South Africa’s elite school teams. Competing in the prestigious U18 Top 12 Hockey Tournament, hosted in Bloemfontein by Hoër Meisieskool Oranje, the team delivered a stellar performance to claim the bronze medal.
After a tense 1–1 draw in the semi-final against Paarl Gimnasium — another top-ranked side — the match was decided by penalties. Paarl Gim narrowly edged Rhenish 2–1 in the shootout, setting up a bronze medal clash against DSG (Diocesan School for Girls) from Grahamstown.

Rhenish rose to the occasion with a clinical and commanding 3–0 victory. Their tactical discipline, sharp passing, and relentless pressure overwhelmed DSG, sealing the win in style.

- Top Scorer: Leah du Plessis (Captain) led from the front with key goals and leadership
- Standout Players: Pippa Viljoen, Ruby Cilliers, and goalkeeper Sarah Oscroft were instrumental throughout the tournament
🏆 National Rankings:
Rhenish entered the tournament as South Africa’s top-ranked girls’ hockey team, having dominated the 2024 season and qualified for Top 12 tournaments across all age groups (U14, U16, U18). Their bronze finish this year adds to a growing legacy of excellence.
