Eastern Cape Athletics Championship. Sixteen athletes from Aliwal North High School were chosen, based on performance, to represent the Joe Gqabi district at the annual Eastern Cape Championships in Port Elizabeth on the 3rd,4th and 5th of March. The ANHS athletes did very well and the following athletes received medals for their achievements.
Gold:
- Chris Weitsz boys u/14 5000mW in 27:27,49s (881 points)
- Monique Weitsz girls u/17 5000mW in 29:11,78s (878 points)
- Marlinka Zurich girls u/17 JT with a distance of 36.90m.
Silver:
- Petra Kok girls u/15 100m in 13,05s
- Robert Orrock men u/19 3000mSc in 9:52,00s (881 points)
- Denzil Jacobs boys u/14 100mH in 15.82s.
Bronze:
- Anche Viljoen girls u/14 90mH (16,00s) and 300mH(53,00s)
- Mzukisi Malila men u/19 400mH (61,05s).
Aliwal North also want to congratulate Ethan du Plessis, boys u/17, who ran his 100m race in 10,88s (799 points).
Congratulations to Chris, Ethan, Robert, Monique and Marlinka who were chosen for the Eastern Cape team who will go to the South African National Schools Athletics Championships in Germiston on the 16th to 19th of March.
