Curro Durbanville. The Grade 9s from Curro Durbanville High School visited the Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre. The visit concludes the History syllabus this term.
The annual visit focuses on the events of the Holocaust and educates students on the progressive steps of genocides. The hope is to prevent future atrocities of this kind.
Students experienced a guided tour through the exhibition detailing the events of the Holocaust and had the opportunity to interview Pinchas Gutter through the Dimensions in Testimony project which prompts real-time responses to questions about his survival story.
The whole experience was loaded with tragedy but also hope for safer societies. It was a wonderfully enriching experience and one the Grade 9s will remember for many years to come.
