Debat/ Redenaars. Grey Kollege se redenaars en debat-deelnemers het verskeie prestasies behaal.
Con Spirito-Debat:
- Een junior span en twee senior spanne is deur na die semi-finale rondte.
ATKV-Debat:
Die junior spanne het albei hul debatte gewen:
- Span 1 – Classe Laas, Schalk van der Merwe en Schabort de Jager
- Span 2 – Devin Serfontein, Stian van Niekerk en Pieter Smit
Die Senior spanne het een gewen en twee verloor:
- Span 1 – Chris Goosen en Jaco du Plessis wen en dring deur na die volgende rondte
- Span 2 – Ruben Kruger en Lourie van Reenen verloor
- Span 3 – Louis Bothma en Fasie Grobbelaar verloor
ATKV-Redenaars:
Juniors wat deurgaan na die semi-finale en finale rondte:
- 1. Classe Laas – 1ste in die Vrystaat – Finaal
- 2. Schabort de Jager – 5de in die Vrystaat
Senior redenaars wat deurgaan na die semi-finale en finale rondte:
- 1. Chris Goosen – 2de in die Vrystaat – Finaal
- 2. Fasie Grobbelaar – 9de in die Vrystaat
- 3. Johannes van Wyk
Motheo District Debating League:
- Grey College won 8 of the 9 rounds with Sechaba Moeti, Connor Peterson and Owethu Mashibini winning best speaker awards.
- Debates with Eunice High School – Grey College won all three rounds.
- Sechaba Moeti, Grade 11, has progressed to the next stage of the selection process for the SA debating teams for 2024.
Public Speaking:
Sechaba Moeti, Bereng Nkopane, Bandile Makoka, Thomas Schoeman and Ayanda Qhina finished with 3 speakers in the Top 10: Thomas took 10th plave and Sechaba 6th place in the senior division. In the junior division Ayanda took 6th place.
Free State Open:Â
Thomas Schoeman and Sechaba Moeti took part in a university level debating and public speaking tournament hosted at UFS. The debating style follows that of the British Parliament, unlike the World School’s Debate which the learners are used to. The boys spoke against speakers from various schools. It was predominantly against speakers from institutions of higher education, including WITS and UFS.There were 73 teams in total.
Debating:
- Round 1: Grey College placed 3rd
- Round 2: Grey College placed 2nd
- Round 3: Grey College placed 1st
- Round 4: Grey College placed 3rd
- Grey also broke 1st to the Novice Finals division, but did not win.
- Thomas won 5th best Novice speaker of the entire tournament and Sechaba 7th.
Public speaking:
Thomas broke to the finals and received the 2nd best speaker award. He continued to win the Public Speaking Championship.
