Luncedo CMC Athletics. On Saturday, 10 February, ANHS hosted the annual Luncedo CMC athletics meeting at Sauer Park. For this event all the best athletes from Aliwal North, Jamestown, Burgersdorp, Venterstad, Steynsburg, Lady Grey and Barkley East participated.
Aliwal North High School’s athletes did very well and on the day,they ended up with 25 first place event wins, 16 second place finishes and 15 third place finishes! They also have 39 athletes that made it to the next round which is the Joe Gqabi meeting in Sterkspruit. This event will take place on Saturday, 24 February.
Congratulations the following athletes who broke records.
- Men U19: Francois van Niekerk HJ (1.85m); Tiaan Nagel JT (39,64m).
- Women U19: Ashlin Jantjies SP (8.30m).
- Girls U17: Tine Pretorius SP (10.86m), DT (24.19m) and JT (23.21m); Petra Kok 200m (26,66s); Catherine van Aardt 3000m (11:55,29s).
- Boys U17: Chris Weitsz 10kmW (52:47,00)
Hoërskool Aliwal-Noord bedank ook die drie Graad 8 leerders wat Saterdag, na die byeenkoms, uit hulle eie wil die paviljoen op Sauerpark opgeruim het. Hulle is Elberna Malo, Shanice Schalkwyk en Duwaylon Heynes.
