Creative Arts Festival. The Creative Arts Festival took place at Crawford Sandton this year. This festival hosted children from various schools around Johannesburg. The festival aims to develop confidence in communication skills and, sections such as, Solo Verse (Poetry) and Public Speaking form part of the festival.
Four years ago, the organisers of the Creative Arts Festival decided to open the festival to children in Grade 0 (5 turning 6). To say they were impressed by the performances is an understatement!
This year proved no exception. Twenty-seven excited Grade 0’s entered the Solo Verse poetry section. They recited their poems in front of their peers, an audience and an adjudicator. They were brilliant! Every child was confident, nobody forgot their lines and they enjoyed the experience immensely. The children either achieved Honours (90-94%) or Prestige (95-100%).
Two children decided to enter the public speaking category and gosh, what Superheroes they were! Both received Prestige awards for their dynamic speeches that kept us entertained.
Crawford International Sandton is producing confident communicators who are risk takers in this area of development. Communication is key and Crawford wait, in anticipation, to see how they progress in this field of communication as they advance through the grades.
