Scoring a successful partnership

The growth and appeal of the PMSS programme, currently in a pilot phase at two Curro schools, have been remarkable. The sports festival not only showcased the exceptional soccer skills of the teams but also demonstrated the positive impact of the programme on learner development. The increased participation levels, improved skill sets, and enhanced focus and self-esteem of the learners resulted in outstanding performances from nearly all the teams, with many achieving victories in their recent matches.
“The success of this pilot project at Curro Meridian Northern Academy and Curro Meridian Cosmo City has exceeded our expectations and we will be rolling it out to other schools within our group, says Fergus Sampson, Business Executive for Meridian Schools at Curro Holdings.
Value of soccer
Maud Langa, Executive Head of Curro Cosmo City Meridian, also expressed her enthusiasm for the PMSS partnership, recognizing the value of soccer as a tool for learner development. “The success of the sports festival at the school stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication and hard work displayed by both the learners and coaches involved in the PMSS programme,” she stated. “We wholeheartedly believe in the transformative power of sports, especially soccer, as a tool for personal and educational development. We commend the partnership between Curro and the PMSS programme. The programme has aligned itself well with our commitment to providing learners with the highest quality educational services and facilities,” she adds.
Furthermore, the PMSS partnership has led to extraordinary opportunities for the school, including coaching clinics conducted by English Premier League club AFC Bournemouth. Selected players have earned the chance to attend the club’s prestigious training camp in the UK in 2024. The programme has also resulted in significant improvements to the school’s facilities, with the installation of catch nets and the completion of artificial turf, elevating the standards of the soccer program.
“The progress, quality, and opportunities as a result of the PMSS pilot project have been truly impressive and undoubtedly open doors for its expansion across the entire Curro network, benefiting a multitude of learners in the future,” concludes Langa.
