schoolsthatrockChess Closed Championship. The Western Cape Closed Chess Championship 2021 took place from 24 to 26 September. The Championship was hosted at PRG Markötter Sports Complex. A total cast of eighty eight players competed in all sections, including players from as far afield as Vredenburg.
The Championship section with 16 players was fiercely contested with the final results as follows:
1st place: Alexander van der Merwe (Paul Roos Gymnasium)
2nd place: Dr. Shabir Bhaawodien (Fide Master)
3rd place: Andreas De Jager (Curro Durbanville)
