WPNS T25 knockout. Both Curro Durbanville U15 and U19 boys played in the finals of the WPNS T25 knockout tournament. The U19’s played against a strong Bellville side.
The U19 Curro team
Curro won the toss and elected to bat first. A very shaky start saw the boys 34/4. Christian French managed to steady the ship scoring 75* off 53 balls with Jordan Jones also contributing a quick fire 22* off 13 balls. After the allotted 25 overs the boys had posted a respectable 145/6. Bellville got off to a flying start, quickly reaching 100 with just the loss of only 4 wickets.
The Curro bowlers managed to step up a gear getting a few quick wickets, and bowling Bellville out for 138 in the last over, giving Curro the win and the trophy! Tiaan Visagie and Neo Petersen were the definite pick of the bowlers.
The U12 Curro team
The U15 boys were playing Stellenberg High School in their final. Curro won the toss and elected to bat first. After losing the wicket of the opener early on, the squad did a sterling job of setting a very good target of 178/3 after the 25 overs. Vaughan Visagie (63) and Joshua Zietsman (40) being pivotal in the runs. Stellenberg came in to bat and quickly got runs on the board. However outstanding fielding, including stumping, run outs and catches saw Curro restrict Stellenberg to 145/6, giving the Curro boys the win and the U15 title!
Curro is so extremely proud of all their learners who took part in this tournament and applaud the new 2021 T25 champions. “We would also like to thank our coaches Henco Bornmann and Shafiek Johnson for their time and efforts in growing this sport, as well as our learners.”
