Wolkursus 2022. Hoër Landbouskool Marlow, Cradock, glo dat die jong, opkomende boere die toekoms van Suid-Afrika se landbou veilig in hul hande bewaar. Marlow is opgewonde om deel te vorm van die vooruitgang van landbou en die rol wat hul seuns daarin speel. Marlow bedryf verskeie aktiewe landbou-afdelings, naamlik skaap-en-wol, varke, suiwel, pluimvee en akkerbou.
Jaarliks word die graad 11 Landbou Bestuurspraktyke (LBP) leerders die geleentheid gebied om ‘n week lange wolkursus te voltooi. Hier doen die seuns praktiese ervaring in wolklassering op.
Tans vergesel mnr. Francois Naude (BB), die hoof van skaap-en-wol, hierdie groep seuns na Gqeberha. Dit is vir die eerste woltoer in ongeveer 23 jaar. Die wolkursus se program is propvol opvoedkundige besoeke wat ‘n breë spektrum van die wolbedryf insluit. Die Ramme kan in die volgende paar dae uitsien na ‘n besoek aan BKB se kantore en store sowel as House of Fibre. Verder sal die seuns die wolveiling en lesings van RWS en RNS bywoon. Die toer word afgesluit by Stucken Yarns (MSSA) wat die verwerking en was van bokhaar demonstreer.
Hierdie toer verbreed die kennis van die leerders. Dit gee ook perspektief aan die volledige siklus wat die wol en bokhaar volg. Dit is vanaf die rou materiaal in die wolskuur tot die verwerkte produkte in die winkel.
Wool Course 2022
Marlow Agricultural High School, Cradock, believes that the young, emerging farmers are safely preserving the future of South Africa’s agriculture in their hands. Marlow is excited to be part of the advancement of agriculture and the role their sons play in it.The school operates several active agriculture divisions, namely sheep-and-wool, pigs, dairy, poultry and agronomy.
Annually, the Grade 11 Agricultural Management Practices (LBP) learners are offered the opportunity to complete a week-long wool course. Here the boys gain practical experience in wool classing.
Currently, Mr. Francois Naude (BB), the head of sheep-and-wool, this group of boys to Gqeberha. This is for the first wool tour in about 23 years. The wool course’s programmed is packed with educational visits that encompass a broad spectrum of the wool industry. The Rams can look forward to a visit to BKB’s offices and store as well as House of Fibre in the next few days. Furthermore, the boys will attend the wool auction and lectures of RWS and RNS. The tour concludes with Stucken Yarns (MSSA) demonstrating the processing and washing of mohair.
This tour broadens the knowledge of the learners. It also gives perspective to the complete cycle that follows the wool and mohair. This is from the raw material in the wool shed to the processed products in the store.
