Winter’s Day Interschool Sport – PRG vs SACS

Winter’s Day Interschool Sport. Over the past weekend Paul Roos Gymnasium celebrated its annual Winter’s Day Interschool Sport celebrations with SACS.

Both SACS High School and PRG serve as feeders for their respective local universities (SACS for UCT and PRG for SU). Both of these schools are traditional boys’ schools who have been in existence for more than 1.5 centuries. These schools have been enjoying decades of healthy competition while annually celebrating a close bond and mutual respect for each other. On Friday, 2 June and Saturday, 3 June, SACS visited Stellenbosch to continue this tradition.

Friday saw these two school’s hockey, debating, chess, surf, cross country, golf and tennis teams compete against each other. The day was concluded with the traditional Winter’s Dinner. Then the two student councils of PRG and SACS came together for an evening of socialising. On Saturday, the final hockey matches took place at the Maties Astro. The rest of the supporters gathered at the Markötter Sports Complex for a stormy day of exciting rugby. The weekend concluded with the annual handing over of the Winter’s Day Friendship Shield and a scrumptious lunch at the Markötter Suite. See the results below:
