Sports, whether team-based or individual, are great for children as they provide not just physical activity, but also help build children’s
self-esteem, confidence, social skills and motivate them to excel in life.
At Union, we endeavour to cultivate a love of sports in our learners from a young age, therefore, this year’s Inter-schools clash between
Union and Volkskool will once again see the pre-schoolers associated with these two schools participating in their very first sporting encounter.
During the fun-filled Friday morning of Inter-schools weekend (9 August), the little ones will participate in rugby and hockey matches on the Union sports grounds.
The competition will start at 11:00 with hockey at the Union AstroTurf, where combined Weppie Preppie and Union Pre-School teams – the Cupcakes and the Candy Floss teams – will have fun contesting one another while their parents watch on eagerly.
Shortly afterward, at 11:30 on the Puttick Field, the rugby boys, made up of the Batman and Spiderman teams, will entertain the spectators with their skill on the rugby field.
It is always a pleasure for spectators to observe the little ones enthusiastically giving it their all during their very first Inter-schools match ever.
All those attending this year’s Interschools are invited to come and cheer on these little sports stars of the future!
