At the start of 2019’s second school term, UHS, Graaff-Reinet, reported that Union learners Kyle-Luke du Preez and Kendall Krige successfully completed an umpiring course hosted by the Eastern Province Hockey Federation (EPHF) in Port Elizabeth. In recognition thereof, they were awarded an official SAHA “Level 0” umpire’s certificate.
To apply their newly acquired knowledge as well as gain practical experience, both Kyle-Luke and Kendall assisted in umpiring the junior hockey matches for the remainder of the season. In addition to this, Kyle-Luke also offered up his free time to assist with the coaching of the 2nd Juniors.
