UFAK African Continental Karate – St Andrew’s College, Galliano

UFAK African Continental Karate. Galliano Boni Shatters Records at 2025 UFAK African Karate Championships.

St Andrew’s College, Makhanda, is bursting with pride. Galliano Boni, a Grade 10 student and karate prodigy, returns triumphantly from the 2025 UFAK African Continental Karate Championships. The championships were held in Abuja, Nigeria. Boni emerged as South Africa’s top individual medalist. He clinched a silver in kumite and a bronze in kata, going head-to-head with elite athletes from 32 African nations.

Despite sweltering heat and razor-thin judging calls, Galliano’s resolve never wavered. His precision, poise, and explosive energy on the mat also propelled his WKF world ranking to #16 in kumite (from #73) and #23 in kata (from #143). It is a historic ascent that crowns him as South Africa’s highest-ranked cadet in WKF history.

He’s a master of composure under pressure

📈 “Galliano’s rise isn’t just impressive — it’s unprecedented,” remarked one coach. “He’s a master of composure under pressure, with talent that’s matched by his work ethic.”

Adding to the emotional weight of the championship, Galliano’s father, Roberto Boni, proudly served as Team South Africa’s Manager — a moment that bonded generations and amplified the spirit of the tournament.

👨‍👦 “It was surreal watching my son not only represent our country, but perform with such honour and heart,” Roberto shared. “This journey is also something we’ll carry with us forever.”

Back at home, Galliano’s achievement has stirred admiration and excitement throughout the school and local community.

🎓 “Galliano exemplifies everything we stand for at St Andrew’s — courage, discipline, as well as humility,” said a school official. “He’s not just winning medals; he’s setting a gold standard for youth sports.”

🏅 Galliano continues to represent St Andrew’s College, Plettenberg Bay, and South Africa with honour and distinction, inspiring young athletes across the continent to chase greatness.
