The Treverton Equestrian Centre hosted a training show weekend recently. On Saturday we focussed on cross country clinics, instructed by Heidi Caine and Murray Pote.
This session was well supported with 28 horses on site. The clinic catered for novice to experienced horses and riders and even those who had never tried before. Graced with beautiful weather and tracks prepared to competition standards.
The clinic was a great opportunity to sharpen skills at the resumption of the eventing season. Each and every rider left with renewed enthusiasm and a sense of achievement based on their own personal goals.
In contrast to the weather on Saturday, Sunday brought with it much cooler weather, leading to spritely behaviour in the horses along with the challenging tracks built by Gus Oberholster. The Derby Classes were the highlight of the day with a mixture of show jumps in the jumping arena together with more rustic jumps around the arena area.
The 80cm Derby Class was won by Cassidy Hudson from Treverton Equestrian Centre and the 90cm Derby Class was won by Abigael Don-Wauchope from the Cathkin Equestrian Centre.
Grateful thanks to all our marshals, volunteers and sponsors who make these events possible: Mooi River Spar; Westville SuperSpar; the Allawoodeen and Liebenberg families.
