While some were cycling to their coffee spot today, others were accompanied by Mr Brown and Mr Robertson.
Destination? Upper Bushman’s River, a little known section in the world for incredible paddling. Situated above Wagondrift Dam, put in was accessed via a rural settlement behind the Greystoke Centre. A tricky decent, on a steep rural road (clay in nature), under damp and drizzly conditions meant an extra challenge for the team on the banks, getting the quantum out. Always good travelling with a 4 x 4 for times such as these, thank you Drummond family!
The paddling was fantastic. The river was fairly high so we pushed through to Moor Park picnic site beyond the bridge where we initially thought we would take out. We portaged around the 5m waterfall at the Pool of Africa and covered a total of 15km.
Apart from having a good time in white water, these are also opportunities to enjoy the more remote parts of the province where the natural beauty cannot be overstated.
