The aim of ‘the Giant’ – Treverton College’ specific name for their Journey – is to induct the grade 10s into their senior phase at Treverton through a journey of spiritual, physical and mental discovery. They come to grips with leadership, where accountability and a repercussion for one’s actions are key elements. A crucial way of achieving this was to ensure that the four groups remained separate for as much of the Journey as was possible. In doing this, the groups determine their identity and retain an inner focus rather than a focus distracted by the inevitable competition with another group. They are able to work through their own challenges, and this allows for growth. By taking the groups through the new Kamberg section of the route, they were able to separate them for a longer period of time.
