The Bay Cook Off. In Round 2 of The Bay Cook Off – an Inter House Cooking Competition at Camps Bay High School. Qualifying contestants from the first round representing Red, Blue & Green House. The teams were each given a different box of mystery ingredients. They only had one hour to plan and prepare a meal using the ingredients in the box.
Sibongile Mpofu and Athraa Toefy representing Blue House in the Bay Cook competition. They were given a Mystery Box of beef, onions, carrots, tomato paste and pasta. They made Beef Ramatou Pasta.
Jana Steyn and Helena Laubscher representing Red House. Phyllo pastry, onions, carrots, beef stock and garlic was in their mystery box. They made Italian Spanokopita.
Tyla Baartman and Isabella Minter were also given a Mystery Box of spaghetti, tomato paste, carrots, onions, garlic and beef. They made Italian Beef Spaghetti for the Bay Cook off competition.
Chef Lee from the International Hotel School also assisted with the judging of the competition. The top two teams finally going through to the final round this week are Jana Steyn and Helena Laubscher from Red House. The other team is Sibongile Mpofu and Athraa Toefy from Blue House.
Said Camps Bay High School’s Head of Consumer Studies, Ms Dineo Samu, “It was a close competition this round and I am indeed very proud of all the learners.”
