Kelly Baker, a grade 11 pupil from St Andrew’s School for Girls in Bedfordview, was selected to represent South Africa in the World Tap Dance Championships in Germany 2018 where the participants competed against 26 other countries.
In the group section Kelly and her team made the semi-finals and finished in the top 10. In the duo and trio sections they finished in the top 20. We are exceptionally proud to award Kelly junior honours for her achievements.
Kerryn Herbst, a grade 11 pupil from St Andrew’s School for Girls, was selected to swim at the Region 5 u20 Youth African Games for South Africa in December 2018.
Kerryn had a very successful gala and achieved the following results; gold in the 100m backstroke, silver in the 50m backstroke and silver in the 200m backstroke, she was also in the team relay who won gold for the 4x100m freestyle relay. Having surpassed the highest possible standard for a school-going pupil we are proud to award honours for swimming to Kerryn.
Hannah-Grace McBride, a grade 11 pupil from St Andrew’s School for Girls, represented the South African u16 team in squash towards the end of term 3 in 2018.
She played in two international tournaments being the Malaysian Open and Singapore Open, each tournament was 5 days long.
In the Malaysian Open Hannah placed 22nd out of about 90 players in the U17 category and she also placed 11th out of 70 players in the U17 category in the Singapore Open.
Hannah also had the honor of playing in the Nicole David Arena which is named after the Malaysian female professional squash player who was ranked world number one for a consecutive 9 years and is currently ranked world number 6.
