In the early hours of 30 June, St Andrew’s three Barn Owlets were released from their pen.
The little door and front screen were opened for them. As soon as it started getting light, one by one the owls flew out.
They have been fed each day in their pen at the school for just over 3 weeks. Feeding will continue post-release as this mimics natural parental care. These owls can now hone their flying and hunting skills. We have enjoyed seeing them every day.
We thank EcoSolutions for this incredible opportunity. We are hoping that the owls stay close by, or nest in one of our owl houses, so we get to have regular sightings of them.”
