St Andrew’s School for Girls learner excels in Tennis

During the holidays, Owethu Makhanya, Grade 9 at St Andrew’s School for Girls, participated in three TSA tournaments. 

Owethu played the SowetoTSA ProKennex Mini 1 Tennis Tournament in the U18 category. She was seeded 3 and made it to the semi-finals, losing a tight match 10- 4 in a tiebreaker. She placed 4th overall out of 32 players.

She also played in the Gauteng Central Marks Park Grand Prix Tennis Tournament in the U16 category. She was seeded 6 and made it to the quarterfinals where she lost to the second seed. She placed 6th out of 32 players.

Owethu was then invited to play Nationals in Bloemfontein. She lost her first match against the 15th seed in the country, but won all her other matches beating the 8th and 12th ranked players in the country.

Well done to Owethu on some fantastic results!
