St Andrew’s School for Girls in Bedfordview, held the Senior School Sports Trophy Assembly on Tuesday 31 July. Below are the winners.
1. Athletics 2017 Season:
- Maarohanye Trophy for All Round Athlete is presented to the athlete who participated in the most events across the board at interhigh. This is awarded to Jodi Linaker.
- Kirsten Huysamen Middle Distance Award is presented to the athlete who achieved the best results through the season in the either the 400, 800 or 1500m events. This is awarded to Emma Dick.
- Junior Victrix ludorum is presented to an athlete who accumulates the most points by participating in a minimum of 5 events across 3 categories. This is awarded to Tiffany Kok.
- Senior Victrix Ludorum is presented to an athlete who accumulates the most points by participating in a minimum of 5 events across 3 categories. This awarded to Jodi Linaker.
2. Diving 2018:
- Junior Inter House champ is presented to the diver with the highest points in the inter house competition. This is awarded to Tiffany Kok.
- Naomi Murray Senior Inter house Champ is presented to the diver with the highest points in the inter house competition. This is awarded to Jamie Kok.
- Most Promising Diver is presented to the diver who has been identified as most likely to excel. This is awarded to Emma Dick.
3. Equestrian 2018
- Best Rider Colorweis Trophy is presented to the girl who at the 4 SANESA league qualifiers, had the best rider horse combination in more than one discipline. This is awarded to Jessica Beswick.
- Best Equitation Kate van den Dool Trophy is presented to the Best Equitation rider across all four SANESA qualifiers. This is awarded to Leyah Dadoo.
- Jessica Beswick Captain’s Trophy is nominated by the Captain. The recipient should, in the Captain’s opinion, outwardly exhibit real enthusiasm and always prioritise her service to Equestrian. This is awarded to Leyah Dadoo
4. First Aid 2018
- Chanelle Birch First Aid Trophy for Commitment and Dedication. This is awarded to Emily McGregor.
- First Aid Captains Award is nominated by the Captain to a member of John EMS. The recipient should, in the Captain’s opinion, outwardly exhibit real enthusiasm and always prioritise her service to first aid. This is awarded to Georgina Tregoning.

5. Hockey 2018
- Michelle Tregoning Trophy for Hockey Player of the Year is presented for the best internal performance and external selection as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Danielle Quinn
- Cindi Tregoning Trophy for Sportsmanship is presented for sportsmanship both on and off the field. This is awarded to Edan Ingle.
- Lume Gouws Captain’s Award is nominated by the hockey Captain to a 1st or 2nd team player that gave the greatest overall contribution to the team. This is awarded to Kristin Strijdom.
- Progress Trophy is presented for the greatest progress through the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Emma Paget.
- Most Promising u15 is presented to the most promising U15 hockey player of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Cayley Symons.
- Most Promising goalkeeper is presented to the most promising hockey goalkeeper of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Rachel Harrison.
- Most Improved u14 is presented to the most improved U14 hockey player of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Nicole Jeffrey.
- McNulty Trophy for most dedicated hockey player is presented to a 1st team player and looks at attendance and positive attitude across practices and matches, as well as any other school hockey commitments. This award is nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Danielle Quinn.
6. Netball 2018
- Jessica Taggart Trophy for Netball Player of the Year is presented to a netball player who has been identified as the MVP. This is awarded to Kelsey Gems.
- Sarlie Trophy for Dedication and Commitment to Netball is presented to a player who contributes to netball, is always at practice and give her best. This is awarded to Kelly Baker.
- Progress Trophy is presented to any netball player proposed by coaches who has made significant progress throughout the season. This is awarded to Teeghan Somma.
- Most Promising netballer is presented to the most promising netball player of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Luyande Gumede.
- Whitney Taggart netball trophy for best shooter is presented to a recipient nominated from any grade. This is awarded to Caitlin Greve.
- Pattle most Versatile Netballer is presented to a player who can play in a multitude of positions at a high level. This is awarded to Jodi Linaker.
- Tyla M’Crystal Trophy for Best Defender is presented to the best defensive player at a high level. This is awarded to Ncumisa Madolo.
- Captains Trophy as nominated by the netball captain. This is awarded to Jodi Linaker.
7. Rowing 2018
- Most Improved Rower Trophy is presented to the most improved rower of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Neelo Sejane.
- Most Promising Rower Trophy is presented to the most promising rower of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Thandolwethu Makhaza.
- Best Crew Trophy is presented to the top performing crew of the season. This is awarded to the 1st Pair Nadia Gaspari & Erin Hallaby.
- Willows Munro Trophy is presented for the highest rowing achievement of the season. This is awarded to Cara Nel & Emily Pollock.
- Cox of the year is presented to a cox for fulling duties such as helping check boats and blades, implementing race plans, effective calls in the boat and motivation of crews both on and off the water as well as representation at regattas. This is awarded to Jade Teixeira.
8. Squash 2018
- Most Improved Squash Player Trophy is presented to the most improved squash player of the season as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Bali Mhlabeni.
- Senior Champ trophy is presented to the winner of the senior squash championships. This is awarded to Hannah McBride.
- Junior Champ trophy is presented to the winner of the junior squash championships. This is awarded to Rachel Shannon.
- Trophy for Commitment and Dedication to Squash is presented to a girl who is very involved in all aspects of Squash. From practice, league, tournaments, service, inter house squash and any other initiatives. This is awarded to Sharessa Naidoo.
- Nikita Loreggian Trophy for Sportsmanship is presented to a girl who wins with grace and loses with grace. This is awarded to Lauren Matheson.
- Kim Rodel Captains Trophy as nominated by the Squash captain. This is awarded to Stephanie Jones
9. Swimming 2018
- All Round Swimmer Trophy is presented to the most versatile swimmer in the team. This is awarded to Lize-Mari de Beer.
- Freestyle Trophy is presented to the best freestyle swimmer in the team from Gr8 to G12. This is awarded to Lize-Mari de Beer.
- Breaststroke Trophy is presented to the best Breaststroke swimmer in the team from Gr8 to G12. This is awarded to Erin Graham.
- Butterfly Trophy is presented to the best Butterfly swimmer in the team from Gr8 to G12. This is awarded to Jenna Pearse.
- Backstroke Trophy is presented to the best Backstroke swimmer in the team from Gr8 to G12. This is awarded to Kerryn Herbst.
- Most Promising Swimmer Trophy is presented to the most promising swimmer in the team from Gr8 to Gr11 as nominated by the coaches. This is awarded to Kerryn Herbst.
- Best Grade 8 Swimmer of the Year Trophy is presented to the most versatile or strongest swimmer in Gr8. This is awarded to Hannah Robertson.
- Progress Trophy is presented to a swimmer from Gr8 to Gr12 who showed the most progress throughout the season in technique or speed. This is awarded to Tayla Sinclair.
10. Tennis 2018
- Senior Singles Champion trophy is presented to the winner of the tennis singles championship held in term one. This is awarded to Aimee Caplan.
- Progress Trophy is presented to the tennis player who moved up the ladder the furthest this season. This is awarded to Alessia Surmon.
- Junior Singles Championship performance is presented to the best performing junior tennis player in the school championships. This is awarded to Roxane Symons.
- Tennis Doubles Champions is awarded to Aimee Caplan & Sarah Thurston.
- Kelly Robinson Trophy for Sportsmanship and Dedication is presented to the girl who had the best practice attendance and attitude during tennis matches. This is awarded to Karabo Maikeco.
- Kaylee Layzell Tennis Captains Award is presented to a tennis player who has stood out amongst her team mates. She is someone who voluntarily helped out whenever help was needed. She is committed to the sport and gives her best in each match. She is encouraging and leadership worthy, she is well liked amongst her team and is a worthy candidate of this award. This is awarded to Luba Siwawa Ndai.
