Springbok Scout award. Triple Triumph: Rondebosch Boys’ High Celebrates Springbok Scout Success.
Rondebosch Boys’ High School is beaming with pride as three of our exceptional Grade 12 students—James Webb, Luca Scott, and Timothy van Zyl-Smit—have earned the prestigious Springbok Scout Award, the highest honour in South African Scouting.
This elite accolade is not handed out lightly. It marks the culmination of years of dedication, resilience, and leadership. To qualify, Scouts must master a wide array of skills—from advanced first aid and survival techniques to navigation and project management. They must lead a 30km expedition, complete a major project such as constructing a pioneering structure or hosting a formal banquet, and contribute over 40 hours of community service. The final hurdle? A rigorous interview and a proven record of excellence throughout their Scouting journey.

The Springbok Scout Award is so demanding that many troops go years without a single recipient. For Rondebosch to celebrate three awardees in one year is nothing short of extraordinary—a testament to the calibre of our students and the strength of our school’s values.
