Sevens Rugby Tournament – St Charles College

Sevens Rugby Tournament. 🏉 Saints 7s: A Showcase of Talent, Tenacity, and Team Spirit.

St Charles College, Pietermaritzburg

This year’s Saints sevens rugby tournament brought together 16 spirited teams across four highly competitive pools, delivering a memorable day of schoolboy rugby in Pietermaritzburg. The Under-17 division featured Pools A and B, with standout schools such as Michaelhouse, Hilton College, Westville Boys’ High, St Charles College, and Howick High School. The Under-15 category proved equally fierce, with Pool A hosting Hilton, Michaelhouse, Westville, and St Charles College, while Pool B saw Michaelhouse B, Howick High School, Westville Boys B, and St Charles College B battle it out.

A Rising Tide of Talent

Despite grappling with injuries and player absences in the senior age group, the tournament served as an ideal opportunity for St Charles College to unveil a wave of emerging young talent. The U17 squad had a mixed bag of results, but the experience was invaluable. Young players stepped up with purpose, proudly wearing the Blue and Gold as they demonstrated resilience, skill, and hunger—traits that will serve them well as they eye the 2026 season.

Under-15 Excellence on Display The Under-15 matches delivered thrilling rugby and electrifying finals. Both St Charles College teams reached their respective finals, where they pushed their opponents to the limit in nail-biting contests. Westville and Hilton College ultimately secured top honours, but the determination and skill shown by the Saints were a true highlight of the day.

🏆 Westville Reigns Supreme in U17s In the Under-17 division, Westville Boys’ High showcased the depth and power of their Sevens program, claiming both Pool A and Pool B trophies. Their performance underscored the strength of their squad and their commitment to the format.

A Day to Remember The Saints 7s was more than a tournament—it was a celebration of rugby, camaraderie, and school pride. The St Charles campus buzzed with energy, and the quality of play was a tribute to the dedication of players and coaches alike.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all participating schools, whose sportsmanship and enthusiasm helped make the day a resounding success. Special appreciation is extended to the organisers, staff, and volunteers who brought the event to life. St Charles wishes all teams continued success in the season ahead—and we look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2026 for another chapter of incredible rugby.
