Senior Relay Gala. 🏆 Yellow Fins Triumph!
A heartfelt congratulations to the remarkable Yellow Fins for concluding their swimming season in spectacular fashion, proudly bringing home the Senior Relay Gala Trophy yesterday!
They caught up with Mrs Schirge, the school’s dedicated Head of Swimming, who was radiant with pride as she reflected on the afternoon: “I knew how much the girls wanted it. There are moments in sport that stay with you, and yesterday was one of them. What stood out most was the way the team rallied around one another, encouraging every member of the squad.
Before the races, the team talk was a little different. It wasn’t about strategy or technique. Instead, the girls had ten seconds to look at the teammates beside them and realise exactly what they were swimming for – themselves, their team, their parents, and their school, who support them every step of the way.
Everything about yesterday was about the heart! With such strong competition in Pietermaritzburg, we knew it would be tough. That’s what makes these galas so special – the opportunity to compete against schools that bring out the very best in one another.”
The results speak for themselves:
- 1 record broken (U17 4 x 50m Backstroke)
- 6 out of 11 trophies claimed
The school extends its gratitude to Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School for hosting such a memorable event, and a warm well done to all the schools that competed. It was a privilege to share the pool and witness such determination, courage, and sportsmanship.
